BREEDING APPROVAL PROCESS FOR INDIVIDUAL DOGS
How to get your Drent Approved for Breeding

The DPCNA has broken the process down to a handful of steps.
Downloadable Approval Process Checklist
STEP 1: Go to the Breeder’s Login page and sign the Code of Ethics. Once you sign the DPCNA Code of
Ethics, you will be granted access to the password protected breeder’s page with all the e-forms
you will need.

STEP 2: Look for the e-Conformation Exam and upload all of the required photos. We have provided
examples for you to emulate. The Board will convene an e-Meeting to grade your Drent.

STEP 3: Wait for your e-Conformation Exam results. With passing results, you should proceed to the next
step.

STEP 4: Seek out an AKC Canine Good Citizen exam for your Drent and provide documentation that your
dog passed and/or is a certified therapy or service dog. Also, your Drent may be evaluated by a
Board Member.

STEP 5: Start your dog’s health testing, this has two steps:

a) Get the CAER exam for your dog’s eyes done first, it isn’t expensive, but finding a qualified
veterinarian can be tricky. If you have a “normal” passing result, move onto the last item. (please note: eye exams are only valid for 12 months from the date certificate is issued. The exception is for dogs over 6 years of age - a passing result is valid indefinitely)

b) Schedule your Drent to have his/her hips and elbows x-rayed and sent off to OFA.

STEP 6: Upload PDF copies of the documents: Conformation, Temperament, Eyes, Elbows, and Hips to the "Get my Drent Approved for Breeding" Page
electronic conformation exam request
This is the first step to getting your Drent approved for breeding. Your Drent must be at least 18 months of age to process a Conformation Exam Request. A conformation exam uses the breed standard to look at the outward qualities of your dog - including structure, specific items relating to breed type, and movement. Please use the link below to request an e-conformation exam.
